Gilbert White was an early naturalist based in Selborne in north Hampshire. He studied and then wrote about the wildlife of Selborne.
Though a religious man, his work is that of a patient, careful observer with an enquiring mind. It’s that spirit of the enquiring mind that appeals to me most.
Today, his former home is a museum to his life and work.
