I rode around 375 miles to reach Vezelay from Avignon in the midst of the 2019 French heatwave, taking in the Ardeche and other areas slightly off the beaten track. My reward was this hotel in the hilltop town of Vezelay which I really enjoyed. I liked the peacefulness of the upper town, as traffic was prevented from entering, though I managed to park the machine outside the hotel. The church next to the hotel is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
