Having read a feature about Undara in an in-flight magazine en route to Australia, we decided to go out to this unique lodge and national park in the outback. It’s about 4 or 5 hours drive from Cairns and choices for accommodation include staying in converted railway carriages. There’s the lava tubes themselves (fascinating), plenty of wildlife (birds, wallaroos, snakes etc), hiking trails and extinct (or dormant?) craters.
