The Second Half of 2023 & Beyond
The Covid-19 pandemic made it more difficult to plan things, especially travel, where you couldn’t be sure if it‘d be possible to visit a chosen destination due to sudden lockdowns and quarantining requirements, or indeed whether (thanks to the Covid related economic depression) one’s circumstances in a financial sense would still allow it.
As an (realistic) optimist, I always wanted to believe that things are possible – the quote “if it is not impossible, there must be a way to do it” sums up my attitude. So, although plans were cancelled, or put on hold or postponed due to “Covid”, things have since returned to relative normality, meaning that it’s realistic to think forwards with hopefulness and positivity for the future.
In that spirit of positivity, we’re always looking for new places for photography, diving, motorcycling, camping, walking, trekking and anything that you could call “absorbing”. We’re currently looking at some projects going forward into 2024 and as far down the road as 2026/7!
Ideas already booked or in our sights include a visit to the Brazilian Grand Prix at Sao Paolo, the Bahamas (Bimini to be precise for the Great Hammerhead encounters), a motorcycle trip to circum-navigate Iceland and the Faroes, Australia for a “far north exploratory” trip on the Great Barrier Reef, other dive destinations such as Raja Ampat, the Mediterranean and a few places in the UK. We’ll post things as they start to come to fruition. Plenty to keep us motivated. – JC
Motorcycle Touring
The BMW R1200 GS Adventure is the perfect machine for “adventure touring” and constantly needs to be exercised!
It beckons me to hit the road, both in the UK and abroad whenever I can. I’m hoping to develop some “motorcycle touring photojournalism” in the future, although finding enough time might be difficult.
Nonetheless, regular forays into Wales, Scotland, Northern England, East Anglia, Devon and Cornwall are being “fitted in” whenever possible.
In terms of further afield, a ride out to Poland and back (via many other places), a circuit of Iceland, and a ride beyond the Arctic Circle in northern Norway and other motorcycling odysseys are certainly on the cards in the next few years. Other motorcycling dreams also brew tentatively in the background. – JC
Portfolios & Projects
On a Different Path
As I started to photograph and compile for “The Path” portfolio some time ago – a collection of images to be taken on a footpath close to our home in Warminster to the village of Heytesbury, I had a change of mind about what I wanted to achieve.
Instead of quickly putting together some images collected over a short period of time, I wanted to widen the work to encompass “the area” around our home which borders on Salisbury Plain, rather than just “The Path”.
I then decided that I wanted to spread the work across seasons so that a greater diversity of images could be captured. So, although I’ve put this note in the “Coming Soon” section, don’t expect it quickly. We’ll work on it if or when time allows and keep you posted! – JC
