A week in the US city of Chicago (Illinois).
The visit was centred around catching a date of the 2026 Rush tour at the United Center, which was great to see (and to hear) – we attended the last of their four sold-out nights in the city.
Whilst in town, we enjoyed doing other things such as visiting the Field Museum (where the world’s most complete T. Rex is displayed) and I was able to see one of historical bird artist John Audubon’s books (reputedly one of the world’s rarest books).
We also visited the Art Institute of Chicago (which included a specially curated collection of works by Willem De Kooning), plus time spent hanging out in the Loop, River North, Magnificent Mile, Downtown and Navy Pier Districts, taking a lift to the Chicago 360 viewing space for stunning panoramas of the city and Lake Michigan, attending the excellent Andy’s Jazz Club (where we caught the Andy Brown Quartet), and taking walks through the parklands of the Riverwalk and waterfront area, where we watched the Grant Park Orchestra & Chorus rehearse for a show to be performed that same evening in the open air amphitheatre.
A really good city, with a lot to recommend it…and a chance at some photography.
