Scuba Diving

Scuba diving (and underwater photography), have been a passion for more than 20 years.

Following a trip to a newly opened-up Cuba back in 1994 where we went on a snorkelling trip, we were “awoken” to the idea of diving when we saw divers exploring the reef beneath us. We qualified as PADI Open Water divers in 1996, followed by the PADI Advanced a couple of years later. We have since added a number of PADI Specialty’s including some unusual ones such as Manta Ray and Whale Shark Specialties, along with Wreck Diver, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Photographer and Rescue Diver. These culminated in us becoming PADI Master Scuba Divers.

In terms of underwater photography, we have attended Dive Show seminars presented by photographers and filmmakers, joined BSOUP (British Society of Underwater Photographers) and the Bristol Underwater Photography Group (BUPG), and most importantly have learned by interacting with others informally, as well as attending courses and foreign trips with Martin Edge (the UK’s foremost teacher/mentor – now retired), and in the south of France with the world-renowned Kurt Amsler. We’ve also learned a lot from our Australian based friend Shannon Conway.

Since the early 2000’s, we have published a great many articles and features in dive related publications, supplements, brochures and websites such as Sport Diver, Scuba World, Dive, Scuba Diver Australasia, BSOUP’s “In Focus” Magazine, UWP Magazine, Dive Photo Guide and regional versions of Scuba Diver Magazine (UK, Australia/New Zealand etc).

Though we’ve been fortunate enough to embark on a lot of “dive travel” over the years, we’ve still got the appetite for more. Places on our radar for the next few years include, but aren’t limited to;

  • Australia – Great Barrier Reef Far North
  • Bermuda
  • Raja Ampat (Indonesia)
  • Sudanese Red Sea
  • Oman

We remain enthusiastic about diving, underwater photography and publishing our work, so would welcome any requests/enquiries from editors, newspapers, websites, dive travel companies, liveaboards, dive resorts, dive centres and underwater equipment manufacturers. We may be able to help.

Please talk to us about your ideas and requirements. – JC
