A walk up through Longleat Woods to Cley Hill on an incredibly clear Spring day. Saw Spring butterflies on the wing (Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Orange Tip, Large White, Speckled Wood), and plenty of birds (including Chiff Chaff, Bullfinch, Mistle Thrush, Yellowhammer, Meadow Pipit and some arriving Swallows).
Also, ordered some Comma and Small Tortoiseshell larvae from Worldwide Butterflies to rear through to adult, to help boost the local population. Small “Torts” in particular have declined massively in recent years.
