Although Lionfish aren’t difficult to approach, they seem to have this trait of turning away from the camera just as you get close enough to push the button. On a dusk dive in Sabang Bay, at Puerto Galera in the Philippines, this specimen decided to give me a chance by rising up into the open water and turning towards the camera. It didn’t do it for long, but enough to get some really nice images, of which this one is arguably the best. Image taken on 11th June using Nikon D200, 60mm macro lens at 1/25th f20 ISO 100.
