December 2012

During a week’s visit to Atlanta in Georgia (USA), we visited the Coca Cola Museum. I liked this shot of visitors watching one of the presentations, seeming not to notice that I was pointing the camera at them. Image taken on 28th October 2012 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 1600, f5.6, 1/30th second.

November 2012

In Belize, our son Zac continued on his journey to becoming a diver. At the end of one of my dives, we worked on getting some images of him “in action” – I particularly liked this one. Image taken on 2nd August 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 100, f8, 1/100th second.

October 2012

The real challenge in Belize’s excellent Silver Caves was to capture the feeding tarpon. It wasn’t easy, but after much patience and perseverance I managed a few pleasing images, such as this one. Image taken on 1st August 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 200, f8, 1/60th second.

September 2012

In the summer of 2012, I enjoyed a trip to Bali in Indonesia, at the Scuba Seraya Resort at Tulamben. Somewhere off the house reef there was a very active “cleaning station” with a lot going on. Here, I spent a lot of time photographing the moray eels with my new Inon flash guns, with this one being my favourite. Image taken on 5th June 2012 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 400, f8, 1/60th second.

August 2012

Silver Caves in Belize provided some great photo opportunities not to be missed. Here, Amanda explores the cave surrounded by a “tunnel” of silversides. Image taken on 1st August 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 200, f8, 1/60th second.

July 2012

The Maldivian reefs provide plenty of subjects for underwater photographers. Here, Amanda models for me outside a small cave entrance whilst I work away, ensuring that I include the bright red “big eyes” in the foreground. Image taken on 19th April 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 100, f8, 1/60th second.

June 2012

This image, taken whilst on a dolphin watching trip in the Maldives, shows a Maldivian Air Taxi aircraft returning to Male airport from one of the islands. It looks at though they’re flying into a storm in the evening light. Image taken on 8th April 2012 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 400, f7.1, 1/4000th second.

May 2012

This image shows a fine example of the world’s largest fish at the whaleshark hotspot of Donsol in the Philippines. The conditions were grim for photography, so I was glad to get a decent image such as this one. The snorkeler gives an idea of the scale. Image taken on 20th March 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 640, f6.3, 1/60th second.

April 2012

We liked this portrait of one of the Bandos Island dive centre crew, who were always cheerful and friendly. Image taken on 20th April 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 200, f11, 1/500th second.

March 2012

During our 2011 visit to Bandos Island Resort in the Maldives, this heron could sometimes be found in the area of the “Sunset” bar. On this occasion, he (or she) could be captured in an aesthetically pleasing position. Image taken on 19th April 2011 using a Nikon D200.Settings were ISO 100, f11, 1/500th second.

February 2012

This image shows a creative interpretation of a school of snappers that could regularly be encountered on the house reef at Bandos in the Maldives. Image taken on 14th April 2011  using a Nikon D200, 10.5mm fisheye lens, a Subal housing and Subtronic strobe. Settings were ISO 100, f8, 1/15th second.

January 2012

This “zoom” shot was taken from the jetty at the blissful Lankayan Island in Borneo, and shows a fellow diver cruising the shallow reef below. Image taken on 29th January 2010 using a Nikon D200. Settings were ISO 100, f10, 1/15th second.
