Field Notes 2019
Field Notes From Bandos in the Maldives – December 2019
Another visit to our beloved Bandos. Was this our last visit? (We always think that)
It had been my longest interval between dives since we began diving – a whole year. It bothered me that I felt “unsettled” on 3/4 of the dives – I couldn’t put my finger on it.
On this trip, I was able to capture some decent Eagle Ray images – something that had eluded me up to that point.
Though we’d seen better underwater conditions on previous visits, it was good to get back in water and re-visit Banana Reef, Maagiri Rock and the wreck of the Victory.
At Stingray City, we saw a Guitar Shark again – was it the same specimen we’d seen before? Above the waterline, we enjoyed a visit to Male, and captured some images from the fish and fruit market. – JC
Field Notes From Liverpool, the North West, the Lake District & the Pennines – September 2019
Another motorcycle wandering – this time via Wales to the Wirral and over to Liverpool to meet Amanda and Zac.
After that, it off up the North West coast, then the Cumbria coast and Lake District, returning home via the Pennines. A chance for more “motorcycle photojournalism”, though the weather was very mixed. – JC
Field Notes From Normandy and Brittany – August 2019
One of my long imagined motorcycle trips – this one effectively was the French side of the English Channel, plus a bit of North West Brittany. Some mixed weather, but an opportunity to capture some “motorcycle photojournalism” imagery. – JC
Field Notes From the Road in Europe – June 2019
Our booking of the French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard gave me the idea and impetus to plan this trip.
Starting in Calais, I would take the ”scenic route” to Luxembourg via the Ardenne in Belgium, then a bit of Germany before crossing back into France to stay in Strasbourg. Then, the Vosges Mountain and the Jura. From the Jura, a circuit of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Then four days riding on the “Route Des Grande Alpes” including forays into Italy followed by a stay at Menton on the Med (with another foray into Italy). From there, I passed through Monaco to ride the south coast to Marseille to meet Amanda and Zac.
We had four days together to watch the Grand Prix and enjoy Marseille.
Afterwards, a ride into the Camargue, then to Avignon, then long rides each day to Vezelay via the Ardeche and Calais. I enjoyed capturing this trip photographically. – JC
