Part 1 of “Photographing Ningaloo in A Fortnight” published in BSOUP (British Society of Underwater Photographers) quarterly magazine “In Focus”. Part 2 is scheduled to appear in next edition.


September 10th – 17th

A week of diving in the south of France with world renowned underwater photographer Kurt Amsler on his “Super Plus” wreck photography course, based out of Les Lecques, near Marseille.


September 22nd

Completed “The Sealions of Green Head” article for UWP (Underwater Photographer) Magazine. Article scheduled to appear in November edition.



October 3rd – 7th

Selecting images from south of France and Martin Edge course for articles and website. Compiling Martin Edge article for publication in Sport Diver magazine.








November 12th

Planning two new Portfolios – “Guitars” and “The Path” – to be worked on between now and the early part of the new year. Look out for them on the website in 2006.




January 2nd

January 29th

A day trip to Bournemouth – a clear and cold winter’s day. Managed to shoot a few films – a selection of colour & B & W.





8th – 13th March

 A visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, based in Manama. Our trip included a visit to the unique desert motor racing circuit at Sakhir for the first race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It was a good chance to get familiar with our new Nikon D200.








8th 9th May

A quick visit to Key West and a seaplane trip to the incredible Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas National Park.





7th June

Good news. Our much anticipated Subal housing for the D200 is now in stock at Ocean Optics in London. Hoping to collect it in mid June.






17th June

 Collected our new Subal underwater housing for the D200 from Steve Warren at Ocean Optics in London. Earmarked a second identical housing so that we can both dive using the same equipment



24th June – 2nd July

A four day course in the south of France with world renowned underwater photographer Kurt Amsler concentrating on fisheye techniques. Remaining time spent at Les Lecques and visiting the towns of Bandol and Cassis.



3rd – 4th February

Headed Southwest on the R1200 GS down the A303 to Exeter and then onto Dartmoor including Chagford and Princetown: then Plymouth and across the Tamar to Looe. Returned via Plymouth, Bigbury on Sea, Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Slapton, Dartmouth, Kingswear, Paignton, Torquay, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Exeter.





27th August

Ears seem better so what better than a camera tryout under Swanage Pier in Dorset. It was pretty murky but a few interesting images using the fish eye lens.



1st September

A dream realized. Collected my long awaited BMW R1200 GS Adventure for motorcycle touring. Expect some motorcycle touring photojournalism in the future!


3rd September

First trip on the motorcycle, with the Nikon D200 in tow. Rode to Sidmouth in Devon and then along the spectacular coastal road to Portland Bill, taking in towns and coastal villages of Beer, Seaton, Lyme Regis, Bridport, West Bay and Abbotsbury.


28th February

Pt III of “Building a Photography Website” submitted to the British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSOUP) for the “In Focus” magazine.


8th – 10th September

A weekend trip on the motorcycle, this time to stay with a friend near Ludlow in Shropshire. Two routes – up via Bristol, the old Severn Bridge and then the Wye Valley, Monmouth, Hereford, Leominster and then Ludlow. Saturday spent visiting Church Stretton and the moorland of Long Mynd. 14th – 16th January

A return trip to Plymouth, riding south west with sun in my eyes on the way down. The objective was website content writing and some other writing based work.




28th – 29th January

Overnight at Chatham ahead of Zac’s first karting event of 2022 at Buckmore Park consisting of a test session and team event.  Zac raced well, but the team’s result was hampered by black flags. I shot a few images of the action.


30th January

A visit to Stockbridge to visit Kudos Coffee (great cheese toasties, tea and coffee) followed by a walk in the meadows behind the town.






11th March

A wet ride through the South Downs to the unique Trading Boundaries venue, to see stunning guitarist Jan Akkerman perform with his band.


12th – 13th March

A ride from Fletching into London via Forest Row, East Grinstead, Croydon, Norbury, Streatham and Brixton to meet Amanda, and to catch Robben Ford and Bill Evans perform at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in Soho. The following day, a ride back west to home.


18th – 19th March

A trip to Northamptonshire with Zac, staying at Weedon, close to the Whilton Mill Kar Circuit where Zac’s 2nd round of the Club100 series was hosted.


19th – 20th March

An overnighter in Weymouth with Amanda, and being joined by Fuzz and Tonya – our last weekend of owning Globe Cottage after our decision to sell. 5th – 6th April

An overnighter in London, staying at Kensington. Time spent included a re-visit to the Natural History Museum, and a first time visit to the V & A Museum. The evening was spent at the Albert Hall for the Psychedelic Furs, supported by Jah Wobble’s Invader’s of the Heart.


15th – 22nd April

A stay at the fantastically located Sea Shanty accommodation on the undercliff of Branscombe in East Devon. On the ride down, I visited Fuzz at Payhembury, and then met Amanda at Branscombe. Photographing early season butterflies at Battlesbury Hill – captured a few Green Hairstreak and a freshly emerged Duke of Burgundy Fritillary.


30th April

A ride to Devon to collect Fuzz for a visit to the Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve in North Devon. Had a good day, and further chance to capture Wood White images.


1st – 2nd May

A last minute overnighter with Amanda, staying in Clevedon, overlooking the Bristol Channel. The weather was cool and either overcast or raining. Our drive to and from took us via the Mendips, the highlight being Cheddar Gorge.


7th May

A solo visit on the R1200 GS Adventure to Bentley Wood to the East of Salisbury, aiming predominantly for the Pearl Bordered Fritillary. I had good sightings, but not good photography, as like Aish Tor back in April, they were hyperactive and skittish. I probably saw 10 or more specimens. 24th June

From Shrewsbury, a solo visit to Fermyn Wood in Northamptonshire for early (and grounded) Purple Emperor. I followed Fuzz’s suggestion, and got my encounter and images, surpassing the fleeting “grounding” at Knepp the previous week. Weirdly, I had the place to myself.


25th – 26th June

– A morning at the Clay Pigeon Kart Circuit near Yeovil for Zac’s Club100 racing, followed by a dash to Stratford in East London (difficult due to no trains) for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.




10th July

A “heatwave visit” to Bentley Wood in search of the Purple Emperor. I got sightings, though no photographic opportunities. Got a confirmed Essex Skipper sighting, which are almost identical to the Small Skipper. 16th July

A visit with Fuzz to Portland, visiting Tout Quarry and Church Ope Cove. Our target was the Lulworth Skipper, which we saw and photographed. There were plenty of other species as well.


17th July

A visit to Alner Gorse Butterfly Reserve with Fuzz, looking predominantly for Hairstreaks (White Letter, Purple and perhaps an early Brown) – we saw all three, plus other species such as White Admiral and Silver Washed Fritillary.



23rd July

A successful and enjoyable solo visit to the Alners Gorse Butterfly Conservation Reserve in Dorset, where I was able to see and photograph both the White Letter Hairstreak and the Brown Hairstreak.
